Booking the best vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Queen Efficiency-Unit 402 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your group.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
