New Bern rental booking tips:
When to visit Emerald Isle & When to book:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the New Bern area. To find the best value, shift your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Park Place, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. If not, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- During arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
