Tips and Tricks to get the best Emerald Isle vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the perfect rental in Emerald Isle:

  • To start, have your group select vacation dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Park Place, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's an individual New Bern beach you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Know before you go:

  • Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
