Our top New Bern rental booking tips:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. Booking your New Bern vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in Emerald Isle:
- Start by selecting trip dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Amazing Ocean Front Cottage on the Crystal Coast has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More considerations:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the host right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
