Strategies to get the perfect New Bern rental home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting the perfect vacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Beachfront Comfort 3BR Condo w\/Ocean Views & Community Pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, email the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation family.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
