Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summer is high season in the New Bern area. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Sweet Caroline coastal home Beaufort, NC 28516 in Beau Coast Comm master on main has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's an individual New Bern beach you are crazy about, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your visit, record any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
