Booking the best New Bern vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. Reserve your vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Begin by selecting your trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. New! Updated Villa in Emerald Isle, near the Point has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you book the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
  • If there's a certain New Bern destination you are enamored with, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the host's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
