How to find the best New Bern rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summer is high season in New Bern. To find the best value, try changing your family's New Bern vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, picking, and booking the perfectrental home:
- Start by having your group commit to dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Moonlight Studio 218 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If not, email the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your family.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
