Strategies to get the very best New Bern vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and choose your New Bern rental home:
- First, have your family commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Beaufort Waterfront Paradise has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before booking the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is optimal for your group.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
