Tricks and tips for getting the best New Bern vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting the best rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Great Views, Private Pool, in Dolphin's Ridge Community! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, note any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
