Tricks and tips to get the best vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Summertime is high season in the New Bern area. Reserve your New Bern rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Make a plan and pick the bestrental home:
- Begin by choosing trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Easy Breezy-Oceanfront 1st floor condo in Fun-Filled Summer Winds Resort! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your trip.
- If there's a specific New Bern beach you are crazy about, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
