How to book the best vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Indian Beach. To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning and choosing yourrental home:

  • First, have your group select dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Easy Breezy-Oceanfront 1st floor condo in Fun-Filled Summer Winds Resort! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a particular New Bern beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
