Our top Rental home booking tips:

Get the best value:

  • To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, picking, and booking the best New Bern rental home:

  • First and foremost, have your group agree to vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Cozy cabin in charming New Bern with AC, WiFi, salt water pool and River access. has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what is best for your vacation group.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. message the rental manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
