Rental home booking tips:

When to go & When to reserve a Emerald Isle rental home:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. To find the best value, consider changing your family's New Bern trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies supply New Bern area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select dates and budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. 4 Bedroom Ocean-Side House on EI- Gorgeous Remodel - Central Location has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • If there's a particular New Bern destination you long to visit, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.

During your stay:

  • Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
