Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- To get the best rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and choosing a perfect New Bern vacation home:
- First and foremost, have your group choose a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Beachfront Condo with Amazing Views has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's an individual New Bern attraction you are enamored with, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
