Tips to get the perfect New Bern rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. To get the best value, shift your family's New Bern vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the perfect vacation home in Emerald Isle:

  • To start, have your family commit to dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Adjust Your Focus, Almost Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before booking the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
