Rental booking tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, property management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by selecting trip dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. A Place At The Beach Unit 168 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual New Bern attraction you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Advice for a great stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the host immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
