How to book the best Beaufort rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning and picking your prefect New Bern rental:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 5th Floor Condo with breathtaking views of Beaufort Waterfront & Carrot Island. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
