Tricks and tips to get the perfect New Bern rental experience:
When to book a New Bern rental home & When to go:
- To find the best value, consider changing your family's New Bern vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Filter your rental search:
- Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Sleeps 5! 2 BR, 2.5BA Townhome-Walk to Beach & Dining – Your Escape Awaits! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
