Getting the best rental experience:

When to visit Emerald Isle & When to book:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Reserve your New Bern vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the perfect vacation home in Emerald Isle:

  • Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. 5 BR OCEANFRONT Duplex with gorgeous views! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If not, call the host before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is best for your group.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the host immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
