New Bern vacation rental home tips:

Cost saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides have deals for local shops and restaurants.

Planning, selecting, and booking the right New Bern rental:

  • Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. 2 Bed, 2 Bath Condo at Island Beach & Racquet Club has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your family.
  • If there's a particular New Bern destination you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or might be applied to your contract.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
