New Bern vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. To get the best vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines that include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to select the best rental home:

  • Start by having your group select date ranges and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 2 Bed, 2 Bath Oceanfront Condo at Island Beach & Racquet Club ~2025 Updates~ has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If not, email the host before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many concerns.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
