Tricks and tips to get the optimal New Bern vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular New Bern attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have deals for local tours and attractions.

Finding the perfect vacation rental:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Upstairs portion of beautiful 2nd-row duplex with ocean view, central AC, & WiFi has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
