Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation rental experience:
Finding your best deal:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. To get the best value, try shifting your family's New Bern vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
How to choose and book the bestrental:
- Select your vacation week and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Townhouse Style Condo with Great Ocean View and Shared Outdoor Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a specific New Bern beach you love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas during arrival. text the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
