Tricks and tips to get the perfect New Bern rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local New Bern area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Selecting the best rental:

  • Choose vacation week and budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Steps to the beach! Hear the waves & feel the breeze! Your home away from home! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual New Bern beach you simply love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
