Booking the best vacation property experience:

When to go & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. Book your vacation home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking the bestrental home:

  • Select your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Sounds Perfect - Bright and airy sound front home w\/dock. 2 blocks to the beach! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
