- Summer is high season in the New Bern area. Book your New Bern rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides have coupons for local shops and restaurants.
Selecting the perfect rental:
- Start by selecting your trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Sea Forever, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Tips to have a wonderful stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
