New Bern vacation rental tips:

When to visit & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. To find the best value, try shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Riverside Retreat - 1940s Coastal Bungalow in New Bern, NC has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.

More tips for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
