Tips for getting the best rental home experience:
Find your best deal:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the New Bern area. To book the largest rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite New Bern restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the perfect vacation rental:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Queen Suite-Unit 207 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular New Bern beach you are crazy about, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Advice for a great stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- To make sure no damages are linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
