Our top Atlantic Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the New Bern area. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning and choosing the best New Bern vacation home:

  • Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Queen Suite-Unit 207 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before booking your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's an individual New Bern attraction you are enamored with, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • At Check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
