Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the best rental in the New Bern area:
- First and foremost, have your family choose dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. POOL & DOGS WELCOME! Easy Beach Access has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is right for your vacation family.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
