Tips and Tricks to get the perfect New Bern rental home experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. To book the largest rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, picking, and booking a perfectrental:
- Choose vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. POOL & DOGS WELCOME! Easy Beach Access has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual New Bern beach you are crazy about, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Additional considerations:
- Add the host's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
