Tricks and tips to get the optimal New Bern rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose and book your prefectvacation home:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Peaceful soundfront condo at the Ocean Club has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
