Strategies to get the perfect New Bern rental experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your New Bern rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing and booking the rightrental home:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Ohana- Oceanview, Pet Friendly Home in Atlantic Beach, NC has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible online. If not, contact the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
