- Private vacation home
2023 season now open!! Savor impressive ocean vistas. Elegance and luxury in a beach home with expansive seascape vistas. And we are located well away from the hordes -- often the beach is completely empty in front of the home.
This oceanfront bungalow is completely private. It has been floor-to-ceiling refreshed with an modren modern coastal vibe that was designed by Susie to keep all different styles of visitors in mind.
Clean lines and bespoke furnishings let the gorgeous 180-degree ocean vistas do all the talking. Two sets of sliding double doors open up to a sizable sunbathing deck with plenty of furnishings to savor the ocean breeze (and tan without the sand), while sipping your favorite drink.
Outdoor dining for two is also recommended if you like romance, as you have an unobstructed view of over 2 miles of coastline (great for taking vacation pics).
For your convenience, we boast the shortest walk to the sand you can buy on the island if you feel like walking down to the beach to check on your family. But where Susie's Hideaway West really shines is when you wake up from a vacation siesta to the unbeatable vistas of the sand and ocean from our bespoke-made napping couch.
Linens and towels are supplied. Also we are only 5 mins. on a walking path from a wine store, grocery stores, and eateries.
Susie's Hideaway West features all new kitchen with granite countertops, new appliances, new floor, new linens, ceiling fans, dishwasher, washer/dryer, 4 flat screen TVs, and wireless high-speed Internet access.
Susie's Hideaway is a duplex (with two sides, East and West). This listing is for the West side. It is completely private -- there are no common or shared areas. You will be able to appreciate the beach in complete privacy. And we are located well away from the hordes -- often the beach is completely empty in front of the home, accepting complete enjoyment of the white sandy beaches!
Linens and towels are included.

How to get the best rental experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- To find the best value, shift your family's New Bern vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your search:
- Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Oceanfront Luxury House with Stunning Views has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your stay, note any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
