Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer time is high season in Pine Knoll Shores. To find the best value, try shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Filter your search:
- To start, have your family choose date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Ocean Side Beach Condo in Family Friendly Community! Oceanfront pool!! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your contract.
Know before you go:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- At Check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
