Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking a perfect New Bern rental:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Ocean Side Beach Condo in Family Friendly Community! Oceanfront pool!! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is best for your trip.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual New Bern beach you crave, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
During your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
