How to get the best New Bern rental experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking your prefect New Bern vacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Maritime West Unit C-33-Ocean Front Condo has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific New Bern beach you long to visit, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
