Tips to get the best rental experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a New Bern rental home:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. To find the best rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Select your dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Lovely 1 BR with King bed Apt 3 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your stay, note any problem areas during arrival. message the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
