Our top New Bern vacation rental home tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summer is high season in the New Bern area. To get the best value, consider changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, property management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and picking the bestrental:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Lovely 1 BR with King bed Apt 3 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If not, email the property management company before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
