Tricks and tips to get the best New Bern vacation home experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. Book your New Bern rental home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefect New Bern rental home:

  • Start by choosing your vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Double Queen-Unit 105 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, call the host before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
