New Bern rental home booking tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer time is high season in the New Bern area. To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Double Queen-Unit 105 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
