Tips to get the optimal vacation property experience:
When to visit New Bern & When to book:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular New Bern attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Filter your search:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Little Queen on Craven has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation family.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
