Strategies to get the perfect New Bern vacation home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • To get the best value, change your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Great Oceanfront Condo! 2 BR with WiFi and pools! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Contact the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
