Finding the best New Bern vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. To book the best rental within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First and foremost, have your family select date ranges and a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Top Floor Ocean side unit with an ocean view! Enjoy our Crystal Coast! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- If there's a certain New Bern beach you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Tips to have a fantastic stay:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
