Booking the best New Bern vacation property experience:
Get the best value:
- Summer is high season in the New Bern area. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's New Bern vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Quiet Extended Stay with Spa Bath, Fenced Yard has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If not, email the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is right for your trip.
- If there's a particular New Bern attraction you simply love, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the host right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
