Vacation rental tips:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are high season in Pine Knoll Shores. To get the best value, consider changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing and booking a perfect New Bern vacation home:
- Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Coral Shores #17, Oceanfront Condo in Pine Knoll Shores, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular New Bern destination you crave, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
