Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect rental experience:

When to book a New Bern rental home & When to go:

  • Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Some owners offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Completely Renovated, Oceanfront Condo with WiFi, HDTVs & Shared Pools\/Hot Tub has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If not, reach out to the property owner before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's an individual New Bern attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. message the property manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
