Tips for getting the perfect rental home experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- To book the most suitable rental within budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing the perfect New Bern rental:
- To start, have your family commit to date ranges and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Completely Renovated, Oceanfront Condo with WiFi, HDTVs & Shared Pools/Hot Tub has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Call the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
