Vacation rental tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental home value:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Booking in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the best rental in the New Bern area:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Completely Renovated, Ocean View, Private Heated Pool and Hot Tub! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If not, reach out to the host before reserving your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is best for your vacation family.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- To make certain no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
