Strategies to get the perfect Pine Knoll Shores rental home experience:
When to reserve a New Bern rental home & When to go:
- Reserve your New Bern rental property in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Pi in the Sky - Oceanfront, top floor, glorious views! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Call the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of issues.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
