Tips to get the best New Bern vacation property experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Summer time is high season in Pine Knoll Shores. Book your New Bern rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, property management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing the perfect rental in Pine Knoll Shores:

  • Choose your vacation week and budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Westport D-2: Soundfront Condo 3 Bedrooms 3 Full Baths in Pine Knoll Shores has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you book your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • If there's a certain New Bern destination you long to visit, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
