How to book the best New Bern vacation property experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • To book the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Make a plan and pick the perfect New Bern rental home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Tryon Palace, Neuse River, Birthplace of Pepsi has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
