Finding the best New Bern rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Book your rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many property management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the best vacation rental:
- To start, have your family select a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Summer Winds A-303, Oceanfront Condo in Indian Beach, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation family.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
