Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your New Bern vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Choosing the perfect vacation home in Beaufort:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Shell Cottage DOG Friendly in Historic District has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
Tips to have a terrific stay:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. message the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
