How to book the best Beaufort vacation property experience:

When to visit Beaufort & When to book:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, consider changing your family's New Bern vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the perfect vacation home in the New Bern area:

  • Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Shell Cottage DOG Friendly in Historic District has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
