Tips and Tricks to get the optimal New Bern rental experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best rental within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at New Bern restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local tours and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking yourrental home:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and select a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Second-Floor, Ocean View Condo with Balcony, WiFi, Washer/Dryer & Shared Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
