Finding the best rental home experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a New Bern rental home:

  • To find the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose and book the perfect New Bern rental home:

  • Choose your vacation week and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Oceanfront Third Floor Condo w/Panoramic Views, Balcony, & Shared Pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is best for your family.
  • If there's a particular New Bern beach you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
