Tips to get the perfect New Bern rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer time is high season in the New Bern area. To find the best vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular New Bern attractions.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanfront Oasis w\/double covered porch 4 BR\/2BA - updated Emerald Isle classic! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a particular New Bern beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.

Have a great stay:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
