Getting the best Atlantic Beach vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Atlantic Beach. To book the best rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular New Bern attractions.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many property management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking your New Bern rental:
- Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 10% OFF 2025 - First Floor Easy Beach access - Ocean Front Resort\n2 Bed 2 Bath has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, call the host before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many issues.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
